Multi-step enquiry, quote and checkout funnels rarely bleed evenly. They lose most people at a single step — and usually at a single field on it. Mo finds both, from one script tag.
Every route change becomes a funnel step on its own. You get a working funnel before you have configured anything — then you rename the steps to something a human recognises, if and when you care to.
<!-- Rename a step where it lives --> <body mo-data-step="Payment Details"> // or from your router mo.setStep('Payment Details')
/checkout/step2 stops being a URL in a report and starts being Payment.
A navigation that lands on the step already showing is not a new page view. That sounds obvious; it is not. The History API emits no event, so a tracker has to patch pushState and replaceState — and routers call replaceState for things that are not navigation at all.
Mo checks. Otherwise every page on a single-page site counts twice and your conversion rate reads half what it is.
Most sites run several flows at once, and averaging them together tells you nothing about any of them. Group steps into sections with mo-data-section, then analyse one flow at a time from the dashboard.
| Section | Steps |
|---|---|
| Quote | Details, Coverage, Review |
| Checkout | Cart, Shipping, Payment, Confirm |
| Signup | Email, Verify, Profile |
The step where a browser becomes a prospect. Getting someone past it is usually worth more than anything upstream of it.
Enquiry submitted, quote completed, order placed. The funnel reads as a business outcome rather than a list of URLs.
The funnel names the step that costs you most. The fields table then names the field inside it — which is the thing you can actually fix.
A three-step insurance enquiry — contact details, vehicle details, confirm. Exactly the funnel shape this page is about, tracked live by the same script you would install. Fill it in and watch the steps and fields being recorded as you go.

Knowing which step loses people is half the answer. Field-level drop-off is the other half — and both are on the free plan.
